Where appropriate. background notes covering aspects of cultural, grammatical and common usage are provided.

For each lesson the start and finish times are given.

These are in the form of minutes and seconds, mm:ss, based on the video tape starting at 00.00.

Duration for each lesson is also given.

Each lesson is divided into what are called ‘Scenes’.

These scenes cover a particular subset of the material of the lesson.

Each scene has a title and the timecode start time is given.

These times are also provided in the Table of Contents.
