We would like you to meet our cast.
These young people are very dear to us.
We are indeed fortunate in having such willing and pleasant young people with whom to work.
Our filming took over four months, spread over a period of a year. It was fascinating observing the changes in the children both in terms of confidence in front of the camera and in their general behaviour and development.
Our children are not from wealthy families, they are a reflection of the good people from small rural towns in East Java, far from the influence of tourists.
The children's lives are busy and full. Schooling is of utmost importance and parents forgo much to ensure their children receive the best education they can obtain. Education in Indonesia is not free and many children do not pass junior high school as a consequence.
The children attend school, go to scouts, help their parents
in the house, play lots of games, attend religious education,
socialize with their peers and the adult community. Angels?
No way....but genuinely nice kids of whom any parent would
be justifiably proud.....

Dela Hepi Candra Ravita ..Pita aka Dela ...is exceptionally gifted academically. She is 9 years old.
Her quickness of mind and her sweet disposition make lil' Pita a joy to work with...she has a little sister who she loves very much...and you can see that in Lesson 5 of Volume 1 where we meet Pita and her baby sister.

For a while we thought we could
tell by Leni wearing little gold earings... but then Lena
started wearing them....safest was to ask for "Len"
to do this or that....
9 years, old we celebrate her birthday in Volume 3.
Leni has real talent in dance and song.

Putri has a sweet smile, an inquistitive and sharp mind.
Put is one of the two "older women", turning 10 and together with Iin being in a year higher at school.
Putri loved our trip to the beach in Volume 4 and was totally happy collecting little crabs and shells....loves to sing and knows many of the songs that made our little journeys a joy

Lena is the twin of Leni, at times a little more reserved and serious. Loves dancing and singing ....and of course drawing....and Dakon... as with all the children, respectful of aduts, polite and demure....but then when we go into the fields far from home...the tomboy comes out to play...

Devan is a delightful young man, brother to Lena and Leni. While some of Devan's friends featured with him in our early filming, as he turned 13 and started high school, we noted a slight reduction in Devan's enthusiasm to always be filmed with his sisters and their young friends... Devan takes us on some explorations around the desa, which befits his age.....We think he was getting some ribbing at school ..but he never admits to that...

Dwi Indarsih ..but always called Iin pronounced "E in" ...... Iin wants to be a polisi wanita... Iin just turned 10 years old and is the leader of the group.
Her intelligence is unmistakable....which as is always the case, has up and downsides.... she is such a friendly lovely child it is hard not to like her....if she does join the police she'll probably make commissioner..
